This training will act as a launching point for practitioners who are interested in working with psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT). This training will also be appropriate for practitioners already working in the space who desire to explore and improve their ethical conduct in PAT. The training will begin with a general introduction to psychedelics and PAT. In the introduction we will explore historical and contemporary uses of psychedelics as well as the current status of psychedelic research, clinical trials, and practice in PAT. The bulk of this training will cover three areas: general ethics and boundaries, ethical abuses, and practitioner self-awareness and self-work. General ethics and boundaries will explore the ethical considerations specific to PAT as patients/clients enter non-ordinary states of consciousness. Ethical abuses will include identifying types of ethical abuses, misuses of power, and historical and contemporary abuses of power. The final section, practitioner self-awareness and self-work will explain the importance of enhanced self-work when engaging in PAT. Practitioners will be encouraged to assess their personal motives, interests, and bias in PAT. This section will also demonstrate the extraordinary significance of supervision, mentoring, training, and consultation in PAT.
